*groan*
I am so sick! I have a horrible, awful, dreadful cold. Everything hurts and I'm miserable. The poopy thing is that I can't take anything for it. Tylenol and virgin hot toddies help a wee bit, but not nearly enough. But, the silver lining, the blessing found in the midst of misery: I have no real responsibilities right now other than taking care of myself. I am free to sleep and vegetate and rest all I need to. And believe me, I need to!
Things that make me happy!

Happy Mother's Day, finally!
Ryan was home this past weekend and surprised me with two Mother's Day presents/presence (ha ha) - he took an extra two days off work to spend more time at home with me! Awesome! The second thing was a patio set. I have wanted one ever since we moved into this house. We picked it up at Canadian Tire on Sunday. We didn't get the swivel chairs, but I did get the ottoman (not shown) - I will be sitting with my feet up as much as I can - aah! He gave me a really cute Mother's Day card, too, that says "Happy Mother's Day, finally!" :-)

Galloping horses
Yesterday we heard our baby's heartbeat for the first time! It was awesome! I was so glad that Ryan was able to come to a doctor's appointment with me, and we were together when we heard it. It was fast - 174 bpm! (Sounded like a horse galloping, I thought) Ryan asked if I finally believe it now that there is someone in there! I guess I believe it, but it still doesn't seem real somehow! Everything else was good, too. My doctor is very pleased with how everything looks.

yeah, baby
So, how does a card-making addict tell her husband that after about eight long years of trying, he is finally going to be a daddy? She makes him a card, of course!!
This is the card I made for Ryan. It's basically a fancy envelope with a mini card inside. The outside of the mini card says "congratulations" and the inside has a stamp of a tiny little yellow onesie, underneath which it says simply "yeah, baby" :-)
Angelic cabbie
This past weekend I was in Fort McMurray, visiting my hubby who is working 24 days straight. It was nice. I got to spend days with my sis, and evenings with Ryan. And I got to spend Ryan's birthday with him!
One morning I was waiting outside for my sister to come and pick me up. As I was standing there, a loose dog came up to me. Now, I'm not afraid of dogs at all, so I put out my hand for him to sniff. I wasn't worried - until he started barking and growling at me! So I figured I would just move along, but when I tried to take a step, he took a step, growling and barking all the more. So I panicked! I've heard too many stories about people getting mauled by dogs - needing hundreds of stitches, and new noses grown on their foreheads! I stood still and started bawling. I didn't know what to do! So I prayed. And lo and behold, a cab came down the street. I flagged him down and hopped in before he came to a full stop! The driver was so nice! He let me sit in his cab for a few minutes until I calmed down and stopped shaking and the dog wandered off. I am convinced that that cabdriver was an angel sent by God.

Long & Happy life together
Ryan and I were asked the other day "What is the secret to a long and happy marriage?"
I thought to myself Why ask us? We've only been married ten years. Does that consitute "long"?
Then it occured to me: sadly, nowadays that IS long!

The things he says...
Ryan and I talk on the phone every day and send each other text messages. He said some things that made me laugh when I knew I was pregnant, but he didn't know yet! Once, I was teasing him about behaving himself up in Fort McMurray (read: no girlfriends!), and he sent me a message saying, My eyes are only for you.. I don't make enough to support more than one anyways :-) Uh-oh! Better ask for a raise, Honey!
Another time, I was telling him that I was having trouble sleeping. There was a lot going through my head, and I couldn't even tell him! But he sent me a message saying, I cant sleep either.. must have caught what you have. I don't think so, Honey! You gave it to me, but I don't think you can catch it back! ;-)
Not much is happening to make me "feel pregnant". I haven't had any morning sickness or cravings. One thing though, is that I am hungry almost all the time. But I am trying to be good! Lots of fruit, veggies, healthy stuff. I'm eating a lot of it, though! After spending last weekend with Ryan and eating quite a bit all weekend, on Monday after lunch I said, "Whew, I'm full!" He laughed and said, "I haven't heard you say that all weekend!"
The BEST one though, was on February 19 when he sent me this message: Happy family day, Love.
